The Security Council Resolution 1503 of 28 August 2003, does not specifically appoint the Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda as Acting Prosecutor as mentioned in the Press Release nº 9-2-357 dated 29 August 2003.

However, the Press Release nº S.C/7858 dated 28 August 2003 from the UN Headquarters states: “The Secretary-General has already informed the Security Council of his intention to nominate and, thus maintain Ms. Carla Del Ponte as Prosecutor of the Yugoslavia Tribunal, with his nominee for the Rwanda Tribunal to follow in due course. In the interim, Rwanda duties will be assumed by the current Deputy Prosecutor.”
