Death of Convict Jean Bosco Barayagwiza

The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) has been informed by the Government of Benin that Jean Bosco Barayagwiza has passed away on Sunday 25 April 2010 at 6h22 in the morning at the ‘’Centre Hospitalier Départemental de l’Ouémé’’ of Porto Novo, Republic of Benin, where he was admitted on 5 March 2010.

Jean-Bosco Barayagwiza was born in 1950 in Mutura commune, Gisenyi préfecture, Rwanda. A lawyer by training, he was a founding member of the Coalition for Defense of the Republic (CDR) party, which was formed in 1992. He was a member of the ‘’Comité d'initiative’’, which organized the founding of the company Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines (RTLM). He was also Director of Political Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rwanda. The ICTR and the Benin Government extend their condolences to the family of Jean Bosco Barayagwiza.
